BTW, Jack Tinker was head of one of the most creative ad agencies in history. And I need a place to put all my ad ideas, so here they go. This one is for Dana Farber or any other cancer treatment center:
Start by flashing faces of “ordinary people” and their cancer diagnosis in caption, and the voice over is saying “Cancer isn’t a death sentence anymore” Then have live people saying, “I choose life,” and show them doing things like running races and other sports, also things like family stuff: playing with children and such, and then finally work stuff like working at a computer or a construction job. Last, a voice over with contact information on the screen for donations: “Help us help them.”
It won’t fly since people only get excited about threat of death, but it’s a nice ad nonetheless. Of course if I wanted to do something like that I would just reverse it and have the people at the beginning saying I choose life, then the voice over would say, cancer shouldn’t get in the way, and finally a series of tombstones and then the voiceover, help us help them. Death scares people into charity. What a world.
